The Marketing subteam has a unique role on Team 247. Their primary job is to prepare the team's Chairman's Award submission. The Chairman's Award is the most prestigious award in FIRST Competitions. The Marketing subteam also works on various other awards for Team 247, such as the Woodie Flowers Award.
Additionally, the Marketing subteam is in charge of creating much of Team 247's image. They write the team's Mission Statement, keeping it up to date. They create videos of Team 247 throughout the entire year and send out newsletters to Team 247's students, parents, and sponsors as well.
Beyond all of their FIRST based activities, the Marketing subteam also arranges Team 247's fundraisers. This year our major fundraiser were a bowling fundraiser and a tag days weekend. Last October, Team 247 rented a bowling alley in Hazel Park for a night. Team members sold tickets to the event and found lane sponsors, companies who paid a small amount to have their name on a poster at the fundraiser. In addition to bowling, there was also a door prize raffle. The tag days fundraiser took place the fourth weekend in January. Students took shifts standing outside of local business and asking passers-by for donations and telling them about our team. Both fundraisers were amazing successes, helping Team 247 to raise the money we need to compete in FIRST events.
