Team 247 is embracing technology in a whole new way this year. While we have been making websites and animations for years, this is the first year that we have decided to design our robot using computers.
The Computer Aided Design (CAD) team uses the program ProEngineer to create a scale model of the robot. The model is built complete with everything that goes onto the robot, including movable parts. When it is completed, the build team has a full representation of every piece they have to build.
While the CAD team is entirely responsible for the computer representation of the robot, they are not alone in design. Every member of Team 247 helps in the design process, coming up with different ideas and concepts. The CAD team's job is not to design the robot, but to put it into a digital format.
The CAD team includes Derrick Hoffner, Kathleen Lockhart, Sydney Marcus, Charlie Rysenga, and Ethan Sines. If you have any questions about creating a computer model of a robot or using the ProEngineer software, please contact Kathleen Lockhart, the student subteam leader, at kathleenlockhart@live.com.
