For 11 years, Da Bears have won several awards, grown substantially, and seen a decade's worth of former students go on to success.
Located in Berkley, Michigan, Team 247 draws students from Berkley High School and Hazel Park High School. The team is run by Coach Joel Bergeron, Assistant Coach Alan Binkow, and Student Team Captain Zack Medow.
Along with its students, the team also has many sponsors, mentors, and returning alumni. All of these people work closely together to build a robot, friendships, and to help students learn.
In order to accomplish as much as possible in the FIRST competition, Team 247's students, mentors, and returning alumni work together in seven subteams. Each subteam works toward a different goal; anything from building the robot or writing the Chairman's Award presentation to creating the team's website or keeping the team coordinated.
21 new students have joined Team 247 for the 2010 Competition Season. They introduce new ideas and collaborate with veteran team members. They help the team reach its full potential.
Team 247 goes into the 2010 FIRST Robotics Competition with confidence and hope to do well, but also with the knowledge that it is not the team's success, but the relationships formed within the team that determine its worth.
